Sierra offers individual psychotherapy to adults and adolescents, relationship counseling, and family therapy. They ground their work in a liberatory, intersectional feminist, and anti-racist awareness.
Sierra Black, M.F.A., M.S.W., LICSW is a Somerville-based psychotherapist. Sierra holds a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Emerson College, and an M.S.W. from Smith College School for Social Work.
Sierra works from an empowerment perspective to support individuals’ goals and their innate strengths to achieve them. They believe everyone has the inner resources they need to thrive, and that her role as a therapist is to create a container for healing, growth, and joy. Sierra strives to ground their work in an assertively anti-racist and feminist frame.
Throughout her work as a healing professional in different settings, Sierra has focused on supporting victims of violence to heal and thrive.
Sierra has provided counseling, clinical supervision, and social work services in settings including De Novo, Cambridge Health Alliance, and The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center.
Drawing on a range of therapeutic modalities, Sierra strives to provide a nurturing space for healing and growth, with a unique approach fitted to each client’s needs.
